By World Triathlon Admin | 16 Jan, 2006

Excellent conditions are expected for Sunday´s Winter Triathlon race in Valberg. Valberg is located about 1 hour drive north of Nice in the mountains.

55 men and women registered for the competition, among them several athletes finishing in top positions in the previous World Cups. Jutta Schubert from Germany, finishing on third place the week before in Freudenstadt is the main favourite in the women field. It will be interesting to watch Sophie Delemer, former elite triathlete. In the men’s field Daniel Antonioli from Italy will be the one to watch, but he will not have an easy job, since Victor Lobo from Spain and Stephan Frank from Germany are in the field. The two good athlete from Slovakia Peter Barton and Juraj Burgos will also do their best for a good preformance in Valberg. The best French athlete can be Claude Carrere.

The course is extremely difficult with several up- and downhill section. There will be one lap of 5 km on the run and 12 km bike and 10km X-C Ski (both two laps).

The weather forecast reports sunny day for Sunday. So let´s hope that the athletes, spectators and organisers will have another fantastic competition in the Winter Triathlon World Cup series!
