This Weekend: Rumia Becomes Europe Duathlon Capital

All eyes turn to Poland this weekend as Rumia hosts the 2025 Europe Triathlon Duathlon Championships on April 26–27. With over 500 athletes from across the continent, Rumia is set to become the vibrant heart of European duathlon, showcasing the highest level of multisport action.

Well known for its strong tradition in both triathlon and duathlon, Rumia has spent years building a thriving multisport community. Its dedication is now being rewarded with the honor of hosting the official European Championships, which will bring together athletes of all levels for a full weekend of intense racing and celebration.

The event schedule includes:

  • Elite/U23 & Junior Sprint Distance European Championships
  • Age Group European Championships (Sprint & Standard Distances)
  • European Para-Duathlon Championships (Sprint Distance)
  • Polish Youth & Junior Youth Championships

Marc D’hooge, President of Europe Triathlon, expressed his enthusiasm for the event: “Rumia represents everything we value at Europe Triathlon: community, passion, and excellence in multisport. Hosting the 2025 Duathlon Championships is a testament to the city’s commitment to our sport. We are proud to bring this celebration of duathlon to such a vibrant and welcoming host.”

Mayor Michał Pasieczny shared his pride in hosting the event: “I am extremely pleased that our city will have the honor of welcoming the best athletes from all over Europe. I am convinced that organizing such a prestigious competition will provide fans and athletes with top-level sporting excitement, while also promoting Rumia and the Pomeranian region far beyond our borders.”

For Piotr Netter, sports director and president of UKS Tri Rumia, the championships are a dream realized: “Hosting the European Championships in Rumia is a dream come true. We’ve spent years developing youth training programs and building Duathlon Rumia into what it is today. Now, we’re ready to deliver an unforgettable event for athletes and fans alike.”

From standard distance races (10 km run / 40 km bike / 5 km run) to sprint duathlons (5 km run / 20 km bike / 2.5 km run), the weekend promises high-paced action and thrilling battles across all age groups and classifications.

Whether you’re competing, supporting, or watching from home, Rumia 2025 is set to be a true celebration of sport, passion, and European duathlon spirit.
