This Saturday the Elites will compete in Coimbra

This Saturday the city of Coimbra (POR) will host the Europe Cup which will see the Elite compete with sprint distances!
The start area is in Coimbra, in the Mondego River and it will be a pontoon start. In the starting line athletes must stand in a starting position approximately 75cm wide. The Race Venue is located in DownTown Coimbra, which is Portugal’s 3rd city and the “university city”, because it has one of Europe’s oldest university. This city is located 200km north of Lisbon and 100km south from Porto. The race is organized on the river banks and both bike and run circuits go along the river, crossing some os the city bridges and main atractions.
The Race Referee with the assistance of ITU Technical Officials, who are assigned to the start, will start each race. The athletes are required to leave their last minute gear at Athletes’ Lounge.

The swim takes place in the Mondego River. The course consists in a 750m lap, with 5 yellow buoys (left shoulder) and 1 red last buoy (right shoulder) and the course flow is anti-clockwise. The first buoy is 150m from the start. The weather temperature is quite nice this time of the year. The temperatures can go from 20ºC to 35ºC. The weather is usually sunny.

The bike course consists of 4 laps of 5km that are very quick and fast, in a flat and wide circuit.

The 5km run course extends itself along the river banks and is totally flat, with 2 laps of 2,5km.
