The Europe Triathlon Cup and Junior Cup of Quarteira served as an electrifying start to the European Triathlon racing season, drawing athletes from across the continent to Portugal’s scenic shores. Amidst the anticipation, the Rising Stars program added an extra layer of excitement, capturing the attention of fans and enthusiasts eager to witness the emergence of future champions.

As the event unfolded, Quarteira experienced unusual weather patterns in the days leading up to the races, with heavy rainfall and cooler temperatures casting a temporary shadow over the proceedings. However, by the time Saturday and Sunday arrived, the skies cleared, and the sun shined on the racecourse, providing ideal conditions for athletes to showcase their prowess.

In the elite races on Saturday, the competition was fierce, with the women’s event setting the stage for an intense battle. Athletes like Cassandre Beaugrand of France and Georgia Taylor Brown of Great Britain displayed remarkable determination, pushing themselves to the limit. Ultimately, it was Lisa Tertsch of Germany who emerged victorious, delivering a commanding performance across all disciplines to secure the top spot on the podium. Cassandre Beaugrand claimed second place, closely followed by Georgia Taylor Brown in third. Meanwhile, in the elite men’s race, an interesting showdown unfolded. Seasoned veterans such as Vincent Luis of France faced off against new talents like Hugo Milner from Great Britain. The race unfolded with gripping intensity, with each athlete vying for the top spot of the podium. In a thrilling climax, Hugo Milner showcased his exceptional running ability, surging ahead to claim a remarkable victory. In the Junior Women’s Cup, Fanni Szalai of Hungary delivered a standout performance, dominating the field with her impressive speed and endurance. Despite her youth, Szalai showcased maturity beyond her years, crossing the finish line with authority to claim first place. Margareta Vrablova of Slovakia and Cristina Jimenez-Orta Guerrero of Spain demonstrated their talent, securing second and third place respectively. In the Junior Men’s Cup, spectators witnessed a battle of raw talent. Izan Edo Aguilar of Spain emerged as the standout performer, navigating the challenging course with precision and determination to clinch victory. Behind him, Carol Popa of Romania and Deri McCluskey of Great Britain put on stellar displays, securing second and third place finishes respectively, in a race that showcased the bright future of triathlon racing.
