National Federations set to name athletes for European Duathlon Championships in Horst
European National Federations have until the end of the week to notify the LOC and the ETU who will represent them at the ETU Powerman European Long Distance and Sprint Distance Duathlon Championships in Horst on April 21st.
All Federations will receive a list of participants today (Wednesday 20th March) and have until this Friday (22nd March) to confirm participation.
All athletes not selected by their National Federation will automatically be entered into the open race.
The maximum quota of Elite and U23 athletes for each National Federation, in each of the men’s and women’s events, is six athletes per category. The maximum quota for Junior athletes is 6 per gender.
The maximum quota for Age Group athletes for each National Federation, in each of the men’s and women’s event, is 20 athletes per 5-year age group band.
There has also been an important change to the event schedule in Horst and the ETU Long Distance Championship will begin at 0900 for the Elite & U23 Men. The Elite & U23 Women will start at 0910.
At 0915 all of the Female AG categories and Male AG categories aged 55 and over will start and at 0940 all remaining Male AG categories will start their challenge.
The Sprint Distance Championships will begin at 1330 with the Junior Men, followed by the Junior Women at 1334. At 1435 all Age Group and Paratriathletes will begin.
In a unique and exciting twist to these Championships, Powerman will be awarding further medals to the top three National Federation teams in the Long Distance Championship.
The top three finishers for each National Federation will have their finishing times added together and the top three aggregate times will receive a further medal.
