Go long - win medals, see Poznań

By Paul Groves | 17 Feb, 2016

We have seen a bit of press coverage about ETU’s “Big One” in Lisbon this year. It will be in Portugal’s hilly capital city that medals and titles will be decided for the Standard and Sprint distances over swim, bike and run.

The “Big One” has attracted a lot of interest and for most, the airline tickets and hotel reservations have already been made but for those going long, ETU’s 2016 “Long One” is being held in Poland in the beautiful city of Poznań.

The 2016 Poznan ETU Challenge Long Distance Triathlon European Championships will be a real test for the distance specialists but will offer them not only great value for money but also a super-fast course and the tremendous hospitality that comes with a trip to Poland.

There will be a full weekend of activities and for those who are accompanying, there is the chance for a top-quality open race of either Middle, Standard, or Sprint distance. These three races are not on the ETU calendar but are provided by the Organisers to promote the sport.

Go long on Sunday with the Middle and Long distance events, go short on Saturday with the Sprint and Standard distances. Already there are some 3,000 people registered to race over the weekend. You too can be part of this massive triathlon celebration.

Triathlon is for some a way of life. With that in mind and knowing that families will be coming to the city, Challenge Poznań have plenty of attractions for all children, at the race venue. After all, it will be a long day for our Full-Distance athletes, competing for ETU medals.

Check out the Challenge Poznań website for information about all the side events.

Last year’s Enea Poznań Challenge 2015 was a record-breaking event in Poland with more than 3.5 thousand athletes and almost 20 thousand spectators.

Faster European Championship in Long Distance in Poznań!

Although, the biggest triathlon event in the sporting history of Poznań is still six months away, on the starting list there is already registered nearly 3,000 competitors. Organizers, triathletes, supporters and the City itself are already preparing for the European Championship. In Poznań‘s schools there are special triathlon classes, triathletes are engaging in Road to Enea Challenge – which is a series of sport-promoting events. On the top of that organizers announced important changes in the schedule and the route of the July competition. Now it will be much faster!

A novelty at Enea Poznan Challenge 2016 will be a relay competition at the middle distance. Registration will start  later this week. - Many competitors from Poland and abroad have asked us about the possibility of relays at the July event. We strive to ensure that the largest possible number of triathlon enthusiasts could take part in the international festival of triathlon, which is why we decided also to organize relay competition - says Wojciech Kruczyński, the president of Endu Sport and organizer of Enea Challenge Poznań. Registration for the competition will take place through this website.

European records?

The organizers decided to change the location of the first transition zone. It will be located in the vicinity of the stands at the finish of Regatta Course (as it was in 2013-2014). “We decided to move the transition zone, because we want to create ideal conditions for the participants to break their records. The change will make it easier to run towards the bike, so achieved times will be better than last year’s”, Kruczyński explains.

The way of preparation

Foretaste of the excitement that await for fans in July, will be events named Road to Enea Challenge Poznan. First of series:  Enea Tri Tour Family Winter Run - will take place on Sunday, February 14 by Malta Lake. Runners will compete on three different distances: 5.4 km, 10.8 km and 16.2 km. It’s an interesting proposition for more experienced runners and also sports enthusiasts who want to jointly prepare for the season. The next race in the series will take place on March 6. I hope that our card will be a great convenience for all”, Kruczyński says.
