Festive Greeting from the Europe Triathlon Team

By Amé Venter | 28 Dec, 2020

Another year is drawing to a close and the festive season is about to start. Europe Triathlon would like to wish every athlete, national federation member, sponsor and all the other people involved in our sport a happy Christmas with your friends and family. Although this year might be a little different, and the celebrations might take place in a different way, it is more important to enjoy the time with our loved ones.

We also wish everyone a happy new year full of new goals, new achievements, and a lot of new inspirations and hopefully we will meet soon for our first event.

The Europe Triathlon president wrote a letter below to all end off this year and look forward to a new year.

Dear Friends,

Soon 2020 will just be a memory and we have a new year in front of us full of expectations.

2021 will, unexpectedly, be the year in which we will all live the Olympic dream.

Our 43 National Federations will all live the dream.

I want to send my best wishes to the ones that are dreaming of a Gold medal, to the ones that are dreaming of a place on the podium, to the ones that are dreaming of a top ten, to the ones that are dreaming of presenting their National Flag at the Games and to the ones that are dreaming to qualify  for the final Olympic spots.

My wishes go to the ones that are not still there but are working with commitment and passion to make this dream come true.

To close I want to share with you the letter sent to Santa Claus for this Christmas.

Dear Santa,

This year I will not ask you for anything material,  over the recents months the experience we have had to live has taught us all that

there are more important things in life.

I ask you to help me and all the people I know and respect, to maintain and to strengthen values in which I believe and try to apply in my everyday life:

integrity, humility, coherence.

I consider integrity a mixture of honesty and ethics: difficult to find in business life, luckily found more in Sport. It’s a value that gives one

the possibility to look in the mirror every morning without shame, aware that you did your utmost to respect the rules.

Humility: usually the successful people in life and in sport,  forget that every daily challenge has to be faced with the utmost commitment

You can win or lose and your attitude towards each other does not change according to your successes or failures.

Coherence: a precious value in times where opportunism and the ability to transform yourself according to events, wins versus one’s credibility.

I took inspiration for this, from the letter to Santa that a great friend of mine, Andrea Pininfarina, wrote for his children in 2008, just before he died.

i still find it authentic and I would like to share it with you.

I really wish you all a peaceful Christhmas and a great 2021
