Europe Triathlon announces the first European Championship events of the 2023 season calendar.

By media@europe.triathlon.org | 11 Oct, 2022

With one race left on the calendar in Alanya, we are already looking forward to the 2023 season with new host cities ready to welcome the best Triathletes in Europe to race around their venue. The Standard Distance championships are our longest standing event, with the first competition being organized back in 1985 in Immenstadt. We are proud to continue this legacy with the addition of all the other championship events in the coming year, hoping to see many of you competing in nations all across Europe.

Herwig Grabner, Chair of the Europe Triathlon Race Commission, says: “With the release of the first fixed Europe Triathlon Championships for 2023, we look forward to another great season. We are happy to host yet another edition of the Europe Triathlon Winter Championships in Andorra in January, the first championships of the year 2023. One of the highlights of the Europe Triathlon Championship season will certainly be the Standard Distance European Championships in Madrid at the beginning of June with a hopefully huge Age Group field there as well. At the beginning of August the fast and furious Super-Sprint format will present great races in Balikesir, Turkey, where our Elite, U23 and Junior athletes will compete for medals. Mid-August we move then to Menen in Belgium for the Aquathlon, Aquabike and Middle Distance Championships. One of the LOC directors, Frederik van Lierde who was also a former Middle Distance European Champion in 2007, will organize the race.  As per tradition, at the end of the season, we are happy to host the European best youth athletes in Banyoles, Spain, for the Youth Festival followed by the Long Distance Championship in Almere. A big thank you to all national federations that have applied with their LOC’S for championships and submitted great application documents. Even if we are still missing Multisport Championships for 2023 with Duathlon, Crosstriathlon/ Crossduathlon and Club Mixed Relay, we are already more than enthusiastic about the great calendar we achieved and happy to announce it for our athletes’‘.
