What a day for the Spanish Team who claim victory both in junior male and female race. A sunny and hot summer day welcomed the junior at European Cup in Austria that took place just a week after the European Championships in Kitzbühel.
In the junior men the big challenge was between Jan Bader (AUT) just back from 4th place at European Championships and Igor Bellido (ESP) silver medal at the Aquathlon Championship on Thursday. The Spaniard has demonstrated a stunning swim performance and being able to leave everyone behind. In the bike a group of five with Van Laren (NED), Keller and Dolinschek (AUT) Gonzalez (ESP) and Wernersen (NOR) formed a leading pack and 30 seconds behind the chasers with Bader (AUT), Bellido (ESP), Lala and team companion Isotton. In the run all distances were zeroed by the impressive running capacities of the Spanish Igor Bellido Mikhailova who with the best time of 14:19 manages to reach the final carpet with 5 seconds of advantage from Bader (AUT) and claiming victory of the Europe Cup Wels with the time of 53:40, in second place Jan Bader (AUT) in 53:49 and in third Loris Lala in 53:54.

In the junior women María Casals notwithstanding the gold at the Aquathlon European Championship is second out of the water after Márta Kropkó (HUN) who tried to make an escape from the leading group but without success. A leading group of 10 athletes reached together T2. The run was a battle to the end between Livia Weger (SUI) and the Spaniard María Casals. At the end Casals managed to earn 4 precious seconds from the Swiss, which permitted her to win with the time of 59:19. Silver medal for Livia Wespe (SUI) in 59:23 and bronze for Natalia Castro Santos (ESP) in 1:00:09. The Spanish Team is demonstrating stunning performances from their young athletes from this season “Enhorabuena” to them all!
