The first Development Regional Cup of the season takes place this weekend in Mamaia, Romania, with more than 60 athletes heading to the Black Sea coast.
As part of a packed weekend of racing hosted by the Romanian Triathlon Federation, the Development Regional Cup will open the H3RO Triathlon Series weekend, with three races set to provide a spectacular showcase on the shores of the Black Sea.
A strong field of 47 athletes will line up for the men’s race, with Bulgaria’s Alexander Bozhilov leading the start list. Bozhilov enjoyed success in the Development Cup Series last year, claiming gold at the Development Regional Cup in Vlasina Lake.
Starting with bib number three is Slovenia’s Ul Denša, who secured bronze at the Development Cup event in Izvorani.
Representing the host nation, Raul Petre will be aiming to bounce back from a DNF in Coarle as he starts with bib number six.
A smaller field of 19 athletes will contest the women’s race, but it still promises to provide a valuable opportunity for athletes to compete in challenging conditions.
Croatia’s Iva Pavlovic brings Development Cup experience from last season, having earned bronze in Izvorani in October.
Romanian Sprint Distance Champion Alice Perjoiu will be looking to begin her 2026 international season strongly as she starts with bib number six.
