France and Switzerland enjoyed a successful weekend at the Europe Triathlon Cups in Wels, Austria, with Switzerland claiming four medals across the Elite and Junior races, while France topped the medal table with five.
Elite Women
Anouk Danna was the only European to reach the podium in the Elite Women's race, taking gold ahead of Australians Matilda Offord and Aspen Anderson.
Already a multiple winner this season, Danna secured her third victory of 2026 and her first at Elite level after previous Junior Cup wins in Olsztyn and Quarteira. A bronze medal in Torremolinos in April hinted at what was to come, and the Swiss athlete delivered in style, crossing the line 24 seconds clear of Offord.
Offord improved significantly on her 17th-place finish in Kitzbühel last weekend, earning silver in 1:02:29, while fellow Australian Anderson completed the podium, finishing just six seconds further back.
Danna once again demonstrated her strength on the run, producing the fastest 5km split of the day by more than 25 seconds. Combined with the quickest T1, it gave her the perfect platform to secure victory in Wels.
Elite Men
France dominated the Elite Men's race as Martin Hubner upgraded the bronze medal he won in Carole to gold with an outstanding performance. The Frenchman clocked the fastest run split of the day (14:24) to cross the line four seconds ahead of compatriot Tristan Douche.
Hubner emerged from the swim towards the back of the lead group but quickly made up ground with a rapid transition before recording the seventh-fastest bike split. A blistering 34-second T1 helped put him into contention before he surged to the front early in the run and never looked back.
Douche added another silver medal to his growing collection after also finishing second in Torremolinos earlier this season.
Switzerland's Maxime Fluri added another medal to his nation's tally with a consistent performance, taking bronze. He finished eight seconds behind Hubner and 13 seconds ahead of Australia's Toby Powers in fourth.
The Junior races brought further success for Switzerland, with three of the top four finishers in the Junior Women's race representing the Alpine nation.
Junior Women
Kimey Casanova upgraded the silver medal she won in Olsztyn to gold in Wels after another composed display. She held off teammate Aimie Decrausaz, who recorded the fastest run split of the race.
Although Casanova's only discipline-leading split came in T1, her consistency throughout the race proved decisive as she stopped the clock in 1:04:05, 13 seconds ahead of Decrausaz.
France also claimed a medal in the race through Léa Reviglio, who prevented a Swiss podium sweep by taking bronze ahead of Noemi Badrutt, despite Badrutt leading for much of the race.
Decrausaz continued her progression after finishing sixth in Carole in May to secure her first medal of the season, while Reviglio added another podium finish to her 2026 campaign.
Junior Men
The Junior Men's race saw France claim two more medals as Gaspard Chabanel and Martin Nedellec shared the podium with Luxembourg's Sebastian Ziekman.
Chabanel claimed gold in 57:43 thanks to the fastest run split of the race (14:36), finishing 15 seconds ahead of Ziekman.
Austria's Jelle Kaindl narrowly missed the podium, finishing just three seconds behind Nedellec in front of the home crowd.
Silver represented Ziekman's best result of the season, improving on his 12th-place finish in Torremolinos earlier this year.
In his first season competing on the Junior Cup circuit, Nedellec secured the first international medal of his career. The bronze marked a significant step forward for the Frenchman, who finished 78th in his only previous Junior Cup appearance in Carole.
