Rachel Klamer and Dmitry Polyanskiy win in Holten European Cup

By David Peddie | 06 Jul, 2014

Rachel Klamer (NED) delighted the home fans with a runaway victory at the ETU Premium European Cup in Holten.

It was the 2013 European Champion’s third victory at Holten, a win she described as a “dream come true”.

Klamer finished ahead of the impressive Audrey Merle (FRA), who recorded her third podium of 2014 and her first in an Elite race.

Kate Roberts (RSA) completed the women’s podium in third place.

In the Men’s race, Dmitry Polyanskiy (RUS) stormed to victory to complete an impressive fortnight for the Russian.

Two weeks ago, Polyanskiy was runner up at the European Championships in Kitzbühel and last week finished just outside the podium in fourth place at the WTS Chicago.

This time he cruised to a stunning victory for his first European win since Tiszaujvaros in 2009.

Christophe Hettich (GER) and Simon Viain (FRA) finished second and third respectively behind Polyanskiy.

Earlier in the day, Margot Garabedian (FRA) won her first European Junior Cup ahead of Alberte Kjaer Pedersen (DEN) and Emilie Morier (FRA).

In the Junior Men’s race, Bence Bicsák (HUN) was victorious with Lukas Pertl (AUT) second and Gustav Iden (NOR) third.
