Pujades (FRA) and Muller (GER) win in Antalya

By David Peddie | 06 May, 2012

Anthony Pujades (FRA) and Kathrin Muller (GER) are celebrating victory tonight after winning the Elite titles at the European Cup in Antalya.

Both victories are significant: for Pujades, it’s his first ever European Cup victory and marks a significant improvement in results in 2012.

For Muller (pictured above) it is the third European Cup victory of her career but her first since Pontevedra in 2008.

It was a day for new blood and experienced heads to discover the podium:

Pujades endured a terrific battle with Nils Frommhold throughout this race, eventually pipping the German by just four seconds.

Frommhold returns to the podium for the first time since 2008, in what was a fantastic weekend for German athletes.

Alois Knabl (AUT) completed the podium and in a race of significant milestones, it was his first podium at Elite level having made the step up from Juniors.

Elite Women Round Up

Muller led home a German one-two ahead of compatriot Anja Knapp with the duo enjoying a comfortable lead ahead of Sara Vilic (CRO).

For Knapp it was only the second European Cup podium of her career.

But it was a great result for Vilic, who finishes on the podium in only her second Elite race with the Croatian, like Knabl, making the step up in 2012.
