Europe Triathlon

In collaboration with the Turkish Triathlon Federation and the Istanbul local authorities, Europe Triathlon wants to announce a date change for the Europe Triathlon Championships Istanbul 2025. Originally scheduled for 5-6 September, the event will now take place one week earlier, on 30-31 August 2025. 

This decision comes after extensive discussions with key stakeholders, ensuring that the new dates provide the best possible conditions for athletes. The change not only enhances athlete safety but also guarantees an unforgettable racing experience in one of the world’s most iconic locations. 

Closing the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge over the Bosporus Strait to traffic is far from easy and the change of date is the only opportunity to have a traffic-free bridge for both Age Group races.

Renato Bertrandi, Europe Triathlon President, stated: “I am excited to announce a truly remarkable event - the 2025 European Championship Standard Distance Triathlon in Istanbul on August 30-31. This championship offers an unprecedented opportunity as it runs alongside the Asian Championship, perfectly embodying our motto “Building Bridges.”

The highlight of this unique race will be cycling across the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge over the Bosporus Strait - a rare privilege as this vital connection between Europe and Asia typically never closes, serving Istanbul’s 25 million residents. Athletes will experience the extraordinary thrill of crossing continents during their race, making this a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.

This amazing concept was born in Alanya in 2022, during discussions with Mr. Bayram Yalçınkaya, President of the Turkish Triathlon Federation. Istanbul’s position as the meeting point of two continents makes it the perfect host for this groundbreaking event that brings together athletes from both Europe and Asia.
