ETU & ITU agree development pact

By David Peddie | 15 May, 2013

The European Triathlon Union are delighted to announce the agreement of a development contract with the International Triathlon Union.

In Yokohama, ETU President Renato Bertrandi and ITU President Marisol Casado, signed the development contract which will see the ETU receive $160,000 from the ITU.

The ETU has complete accountability over this money. Since Auckland, the Executive Board have been working hard in close co-operation with members of the ETU Development Committee to create projects and goals and identify where this money should be spent.

The  ETU goal is to help the less developed National Federations (category 2,3) to improve participation of Triathlon in their country and boost their prospects of achieving Olympic Games places from 2016-2020.

National Federations presented their own development projects at the ETU Presidents’ Congress in February and after fruitful discussions this money will be invested in the Federations who require ETU support.

President Bertrandi said: “I am very pleased with our progress on development and I am looking forward to meeting all the National Federations that are part of our 2013 development program in Alanya.

“We are building close relationships with each one based on personal knowledge, trust and respect: all elements which we consider fundamental to building together a stronger ETU.”
