Challenge Almere-Amsterdam to Host European Championship Long Distance Triathlon 2025
The Challenge Almere-Amsterdam will continue to serve as the home of the European Championship Long Distance Triathlon for the next year with an option to extend the partnership for an additional three years. The event, which has already held the championships for the past three years, could extend its legacy through 2028.
Adding to the momentum, Rabobank has confirmed its commitment as a sponsor for the next three years, while the prize purse for professional athletes has been increased by 25%, now totaling an impressive €50,000.
A Bright Future for Almere
“These are wonderful steps for us as an event,” said Jefry Visser, Event Director of Challenge Almere-Amsterdam. “At a time when the triathlon market is in flux, it is gratifying to see confirmation of our race’s relevance. Hosting the European Championships for the next three years ensures we will welcome the world’s top athletes to Almere, all competing for the prestigious European title in the classic long-distance format: 3.8 kilometers of swimming, 180 kilometers of cycling, and 42.2 kilometers of running. In recent years, we’ve witnessed incredible battles between some of the sport’s biggest names, and we are eager to continue this legacy for years to come.”

The 2025 Europe Triathlon Challenge Long Distance Championships Almere-Amsterdam represents a collaboration rooted in excellence and shared values. Together, we aim to deliver an extraordinary experience for athletes and spectators alike, showcasing the rich heritage of long-distance triathlon in one of Europe’s most iconic venues.”
