The beautiful Walchsee is hosting the Multisport European Championships this coming weekend. This coming Thursday is the Aquathlon European Championships.
The multisport event was due to take place in 2020  but for the pandemic it was canceled. Challenge Family CEO Jort Vlam said  “After a year in which we had to cancel a lot of races, including Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee, it is even more special that we can announce this spectacular news right now,This European Championships will reunite thousands of athletes in the beautiful surroundings of Kaiserwinkl-Tyrol. It will reunite our ‘family. Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee has always been characterised by the fact that it is a multi-day event. This year there are several days full of spectacular races, but also beautiful surroundings, friendly, hospitable people and good accessibility so as to make Challenge Kaiserwinkl-Walchsee a race for families and athlete”.
The spectators will have lots of fun to watch the athletes battling for the European titles.

Gerd Erharter, Chairman of the Kaiserwinkl Tourism Association, added “The region is very happy that after the cancellation of the European Championships in 2020, it has now worked again with the award for 2021.”
He added a wish that “the European Championship in 2021 can take place again under normal circumstances and that the Kaiserwinkl region can warmly welcome all athletes.”

The swim is to take place in the crystal clear waters of the lake in Walchsee is a one lap of 1km long and 1 lap and the athletes will be relieved because the run course is quite easy. The one lap run course of 5km heads around the lake along the promenade, past farmhouses with their colourful window boxes and through alpine meadows, always with a stunning view of the Kaiser Massif and Lake Walchsee. The finish line is situated in the heart of Walchsee, next to the transition area with beautiful view on the lake and on the Kaiser Massif. In the men elite Richard Varga is Slovakian’s most famous athlete known also to be the swim helper of the Brownlee brothers since London Olympics, while in the elite women Ivana Kuriackova (SVK) and Estelle Perriard (SUI) just back from Kitzbühel are here to search a European title. In U23 women Bianca Seregni (ITA) has already showed her strong swimming capacities in Dnipro and Coimbra where managed to leave the chasing group behind for an entire bike lap in the race. In the Junior race the Spanish Esteban Basanta Fouz, María Casals and Natalia Castro are the bronze medal Team Mixed Relay of Kitzbühel, here to try to get another important European Junior title.

Triathletes but swim specialists are eager to perform strongly here in Walchsee and we will see how they will be able to take good advantage from it or if the run will instead be again decisive to claim this other European title. There is just one answer: Follow the event!
