Week #2

This week we feature two athletes with quite different stories.

From Romania, we have Diana Gal. This Age-Group athlete came to the sport quite late. She did not get her first bike until she was almost 30 and then, only a short while after learning how to ride, she entered a Cross-Duathlon in Brașov, Romania. She raced on her first bike, a city bike. That was the moment that she knew duathlon was for her.

Now, with two Zofingen finishes behind her and performances improving with every race, she is using the lockdown in Romania to build up her biking power. So, a novice on the bike at almost 30 and now an international athlete, knocking at the door of the podium. What a story!

Our second athlete is Fritz Schwarz. Fritz is the highest-qualified Austrian Technical Official and one of only 49 of the Top-Flight, Level III Officials in the world. He has raced at Winter Triathlon, Sprint Triathlon, Standard Distance and Middle-Distance championships and is the “go-to” man on the ÖTRV (Triathlon Austria) for technical advice.

Fritz, in his first photo, was checking the saddle height – just to make sure it met the “Competition Rules”. In his second photo, he’s just going fast, very fast!

More photos next week – keep them coming and thanks for your support!
