Young athletes’ delight as On-Running provides a firm footing for ETU Development Programme.

ETU is very pleased to announce an exciting partnership with On-Running.

A very special delivery was made this week to our athletes at the ETU development camp in Paphos, Cyprus.

Box after box; each with its distinctive branding was unloaded at the Veronica Hotel in Paphos, to the evident delight and surprise of the 22 athletes and 8 coaches from 9 countries (Armenia, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia & Slovenia) with 2 head coaches.

What better venue for a training camp than the very one that Nicola Spirig, wearing her own On Shoes, used in her Olympic build-up.

As soon as the shoes were unpacked and distributed, it was back to work and out for the run session in the glorious Cyprus sunshine – but not until the photos had been taken and families and friends back home were told the great news.

Renato Bertrandi, President of the European Triathlon Union commented “we are really pleased to announce the new partnership with On Running. It recognises the value placed on our development programme and we look forward to growing the relationship over the coming years”

Ladi Demko, responsible for Athlete & Team Sponsorship at the Swiss-based company, “On Running are particularly pleased to be in partnership with ETU. The athlete development programme is unique in the world of triathlon and Europe is a clear leader here. Young athletes starting out are the ones who are most in need of help and support and for us to be able to play a part in the development of these potential future Olympic champions gives us great pleasure. We look forward to a close working partnership with ETU.”

The Camp has been given great support from the Cyprus Triathlon Federation in the build-up pre-camp and is continuing to support our athletes. Big thanks go to Eraclis, Demetris and their team.

Our ETU athletes are joined by a huge amount of triathletes from across the Europe preparing the racing season. Željko Bijuk informs us that he had a chance to meet also with the President of the Kyrgyzstan Triathlon Federation Mr. Chyngyz Alkanov, who was there with his coach and the team from Russia.

Weather conditions are in our favour so far and we hope to deliver all the sessions planed till the end of the camp.
