2015 - ETU European Championships - Race to be the best!

By Paul Groves | 16 Oct, 2014

Dear Presidents, Dear Friends,

You will find aside a list of all the European Championship events that are due to take place in 2015. We have put these all onto one list so that you can more easily see how the season is scheduled and how you can plan the training of your athletes. ETU would like to convey a big thank-you to all the National Federations and LOCs who responded so enthusiastically to our invitation for bids.

You will now have seen the ETU Strategy on Races, which was published recently. Now is the time to work together so that we can make this strategy work. To achieve this we need the commitment of all National Federations.

The 2015 season will be an important one. All eyes will be on getting to Rio. I am sure that you will all be putting in place your best strategies to earn points. I would however ask that you continue to give your support to the series of races that will award to your athlete the title, European Champion. We are still quite a Young Sport but we have shown the rest of the sporting world that we have very big sporting values. Please help by encouraging the continued participation of your best athletes so that we can once again deliver top-quality, sponsor-satisfying European Championships. Very soon we will be able to release the provisional dates and venues for the European Cup events that form the framework of the race calendar.

ETU will continue to work with Challenge, Powerman and TNatura. This year has seen some wonderful races from these three organisers. The feedback from athletes and sponsors has been very positive and ETU wishes to continue to provide athletes racing in Europe with the very best choices and the very best events. 2014 was good. 2015 will be even better! Formal bid documents have been sent out inviting LOCs, National Federations and partners to show interest in hosting a Cross Duathlon Championship for 2015.

ETU is still looking for suitable venues for a series of winter triathlon events along with a European Championship. Please contact Eugene Kraus as soon as possible. Winter is fast approaching.

So, don’t forget. ETU European Championships – your athletes make our races!
