Three new events for 2016

Our diaries are full – well, not quite because there is always a chance for a few more ETU events.

ETU is proud to announce that we have a further three to add to our schedule for 2016.

For the Winter Tri fans there is good news. Reinosa was a real challenge this year with the worst weather in ages descending upon the village and with the ski resort being cut off for days. Fingers are crossed for 2016 when we see it return but as a cup event rather than a championships.

Reinosa, a pretty municipality, in the northern autonomous region of Cantabria. 30th January 2016 is the date for your diaries. Reinosa is the name.

If you head to Santander, the Capital of Cantabria, Reinosa is 40km north and close to the spring that forms the longest river in Spain, the Ebro. Reinosa has been organising winter tri events since 1990 and has seen cycling legends such as Pedro Delgado take part. In order to ensure the quality of the course, the event has never tried to keep the run and MTB on snow. Instead the run and bike course will be on asphalt but, just to make it more interesting, will be a 10k run, then a 24k bike on roads that will lead the athletes from Reinosa up and up to the ski resort, Alto Campoo. This is one of the biggest ski resorts in the region and will involve a good climb up from the run course. The final section is a 10k cross-country ski.
*** IMPORTANT *** (Approved by the ITU Technical Committee): The bike course is on asphalt, so traditional bike is recommended instead of MTB

Prize money distribution. Elite men and women:

1st. 500 EUR

2nd. 300 EUR

3rd. 200 EUR

Next up and also a Winter Tri event, comes the 2016 Vinuesa (Spain) ETU Winter Triathlon European Cup, 7 February. Located south of Bilbao we are awaiting more information but if you check out the website you will find a link to the e-mail address of the Technical Delegate who will be able to answer all your questions.

The final event on the list is in France and not far from La Rochelle. 2016 L’Aiguillon sur Mer (France) ETU Triathlon Junior European Cup, 22 May 2016. As with Vinuesa, we don’t have much information at the moment but the website will be filling up with news in good time.
