Miyazaki World Cup: Milner and Seregni hit gold

A 52nd place finish in Tongyeong one week prior may not have hinted at what was to come from Hugo Milner in Miyazaki, but one look at his run split from Korea suggested there could be fireworks ahead. And so it was that the 25-year-old Brit hoovered up a 1m12s deficit off the bike to soar to his first World Cup gold just two years after taking up the sport. In the women’s race, Bianca Seregni (ITA) was able to hold off the marauding Gwen Jorgensen to win a remarkable third World Cup gold in the space of just two months. The 2023 Pan American Games Santiago
Rueda and Hidalgo take Pan Am Games glory in Vina del Mar

The 2023 edition of the Pan American Games may be centred in Santiago, but the triathlon events are taking over the coastal city of Vina del Mar, 120km west of the Chilean capital. It was a chilly 1.5km in the Pacific Ocean to get things underway, Brazil’s swim star Vittoria Lopes flying early on and riding solo for 40km only to be caught on the run by Lizeth Rueda Santos (MEX) who pulled clear to take gold ahead of Maria Carolina Velasquez Soto (COL) and Rosa Maria Tapia Vidal (MEX). The men’s race saw a three-way break by Chase McQueen (USA), Diego Moya (CHI) and Seth Rider (USA) before things got significantly more tense through the run, Brazil’s Miguel Hidalgo eventually delivering the decisive kick for gold, Matthew McElroy (USA) and Crisanto Grajales (MEX) with silver and bronze. World Triathlon Para Cup Taranto: Para season comes to a close in Italy

The Italian city of Taranto in beautiful Puglia hosted the final World Triathlon Para racing of 2023, where precious Paris 2024 Paralympic qualification points as well as the prestigious titles and medals were on the line. The French team was as strong as ever in pursuit of a home Games start, Paul Lloveras B2 and Heloise Courvoisier B3 winning the PTVI golds, Giuseppe Romele H1 just pipping Giovanni Achenza H1 to the PTWC gold in the battle of Italians.
