It’s time for the European Standard and Sprint Duathlon Championships in Targû Mures

After closing an amazing ten-day event in 2019, at Multisport Triathlon European Championships, in the heart of Transylvania, this coming weekend everyone is back to this magical place. It is our desire to continue the great legacy that has been created. Loc is welcoming old friends and of course new friends to share the unique experience of racing in Transylvania at this amazing event. Transylvania’s forested valleys And Gothic castles are forever embedded In the popular imagination. Even before arriving, most visitors can picture of this land of great fairytales, where fog drapes everything like webs over the Carpathians mountains. Nowadays Transylvania is a territory full of natural beauties and amazing flora and fauna. It represents an extremely popular touristic attraction. Within this magical place one can find wolves, bears and other wild animals swarming in the forests.In this unforgettable context the athletes will enjoy a full weekend of races in Romania. From a regional event, back in 2016, to a successful Cross Duathlon event in 2017 and then as the host venue in 2018 and 2019, for both Cross Duathlon and Cross Triathlon, the city has shown it can welcome, accommodate and support large numbers of athletes. It is for the Europe Triathlon an essential that racing is affordable and this is something that has been delivered by the Loc in Transylvania.
A hard-working and dedicated team with strong ties across the local community will deliver the sprint and standard duathlon and the now famous “Dracula Night Run.
This is going to be a wonderful opportunity for athletes from all over Europe to share racing experiences, test themselves on this amazing race courses. The competition will develop around the beautiful Transylvania’s Motor Ring which is an object in the public domain of Mures County and management of the County Council. Transylvania Motor Ring (TMR) that can accommodate any competing car, running and cycling event that can take place on a circuit of asphalt.


Friday 2nd July is the date for the Standard Distance event, where Age-Group athletes from all over Europe will test themselves on the classic Transylvania Ring motor racing circuit course for the 10k – 37.5k – 5k Standard Distance Championships.
Saturday will see the whole show move to downtown Târgu Mureș for registration and course familiarisation ahead of the Sunday races over the Sprint Distance for Elite, U23, Juniors, Para and the Age-Group athletes.
