The scenic and historical city of Wels, Austria, will be buzzing with excitement as it turns into a triathlete’s playground for the Starlim City Triathlon Austria FestiWels and the Europe Triathlon Cups.

Wels, a charming city steeped in history, is all set to host an action-packed weekend that promises a thrilling experience for both athletes and spectators. The Starlim City Triathlon Austria FestiWels, scheduled to take place over two days, is divided into elite races on Saturday (you can watch them live on our YouTube channel) and the juniors on Sunday, which will be covered as a Rising Stars edition. You can find out more at www.risingstarstri.com where you can also WATCH THE RACE LIVE FOR FREE (also on our YouTube channel).

What sets the Starlim City Triathlon apart is the spectator-friendly design. The multi-lap format ensures that athletes will pass the HUMER-ANHÄNGER roundabout at Weliosplatz 11 times before crossing the finish line. This layout allows spectators to be at the heart of the action, feeling the pulse of the race and the electric atmosphere that’s sure to cause goosebumps.

As participants assemble at the start line, eyes will be on the 300m² SilberHolz-floating dock. This centerpiece ensures an adrenaline-filled start, as athletes take a daring leap into the crystalline waters of the Traun, akin to a World Cup style triathlon. The downstream one-way swim course not only promises fast swim splits but also offers a scenic journey towards the city center. To cater to triathlon beginners, the ETU has granted a neoprene permit for the Open Race, ensuring comfort and buoyancy for the swimmers.

Once out of the water, athletes will transition into the cycling segment in the idyllic Stadthallenpark. Echoing a traditional cycling criterium, the course is a completely closed road, prioritizing the safety of competitors. The cyclists will tackle a 20-kilometer route, divided into five four-kilometer laps. The atmosphere intensifies as the course takes them through the heart of Wels, passing Weliosplatz with each lap, and allowing the spectators to be an integral part of the experience.

The final leg is the city run, which has been crafted to be worthy of a city triathlon. Athletes will run through the breathtaking castle gardens of Wels, immerse themselves in the ambiance of the old town, and make their way through Welser Stadtplatz. This 5-kilometer run is split into three laps of 1.66 kilometers each. The Ledererturm, the city’s famous landmark, marks the end of each lap. The finish line at Weliosplatz awaits, where athletes will be celebrated by an enthusiastic crowd.

The Starlim City Triathlon Austria FestiWels is more than just a race; it is an experience that brings together the community, athletes, and triathlon enthusiasts. It’s an event where both professionals and beginners will find a challenge, and spectators will find exhilaration. Europe Triathlon is thrilled to offer this exceptional event, and we invite everyone to be part of this unforgettable experience in the enchanting city of Wels.
