Europe Triathlon

The cold winter months have almost passed and now we are looking forwards to the summer. With this anticipation comes also the chance for our younger athletes to benefit from the top-level training and development camps that have proven so beneficial in the past. The next camp is to be held in the Portuguese training centre at Rio Major. A hugely successful camp was held there back in 2013. Just click the photo to see the film.

The camp is open to athletes and coaches.

Once again – led by Željko Bijuk,

ETU are happy to be able to announce that the 2nd 2016 ETU Athlete Development Camp will be held in Rio Maior, Portugal. A squad of max 30 athletes & coaches from emerging and developing ETU national federations will be selected to participate in the camp under the guidance of an outstanding staff made up of top level international triathlon coaches prior to the 2016 Lisbon ETU Triathlon European Championships.

Briefly the details are as follows:

DATES:   

• 17 May - 24 May 2016

VENUE:  

• Rio Maior, Portugal (closest international airport: Lisbon)

COSTS:

• Athletes & coaches accompanying athletes can use NF’s development budget to cover travel expenses. All other costs including accommodation, meals and ground transport will be covered by ETU.

SELECTION OF ATHLETES:

National Federations must take note of the following:

1. Athletes must be born in 1997 till 2000.
2. Athletes must be selected by their NF’s to compete at European Championships in Lisbon.
3. If a NF nominates more than one athlete then they need to be submitted in priority order.
4. Once the names have been submitted on the required application form a selection committee will then select the final 20 candidates invited to attend the camp in Rio Maior.
5. Closing date for application is: 21st March 2016.

NOMINATION OF MENTOR COACHES:

National Federations are invited to nominate a coach to attend and participate in the camp in a mentoring role.

1. Nominated coaches should be actively working with national federation athletes.
2. Nominated coaches must be prepared to form part of the coaching staff for the camp.
3. ETU will cover all costs of accommodation, meals and ground transport of all of the coaches selected to participate.
4. Closing date for application is: March 21st 2016.

ETU looks forward to host this special event for the first time and making it a wonderful learning experience for all the coaches and athletes involved.
