Dear past, Thank you for all the lessons. Dear future,I’m now ready.

Click here for a few words from ETU President, Renato Bertrandi.

Not as long as Kona but raced with just as much intensity and, more importantly, laying the foundation for our future; have a look at some of the post event production videos from Loutraki.

The coaches, team managers and federation representatives who were there and who voiced concerns to the Technical Delegate, who had received the race from the Local Organising Committee and whose duty it was to deliver as fair and as safe an event as possible have all had their chance to discuss their concerns with not only the Technical Delegate but also with the ETU President, Renato Bertrandi. Yes, we have all read the reports about the numerous weaknesses there and without doubt, many lessons were learned on the day and have subsequently been acted upon to ensure that those same errors are not made again in the future.

The truly positive side of the event was that the 32 National Federations with more than 180 young athletes had the chance to join together as one and to enjoy the hospitality there. These youngsters grasped the opportunity to exchange ideas, experiences, race stories, tips and skills. Borders were broken down by this new generation of athletes and for those lucky enough to have later travelled to Buenos Aires, this event in Loutraki was an appetising taster of things to come.

So, let’s look forwards to seeing these athletes race in the future. Let’s follow them as they grow as athletes and as their federations follow their success and, no doubt occasional failures let us, above all, support our youth athletes. They are the future of our sport.
