Heidi Juránková claimed her first international victory this weekend in Ibiza, delivering a strong performance over the final five kilometres to take gold at the season-ending Europe Triathlon Cup race in Ibiza.

The Czech athlete finished ahead of Spanish favourites Sara Guerrero Manso and Cristina Jímenez-Orta Guerrero, who completed the women’s podium.

Juránková worked her way into the leading group on the bike after Sara Crociani and Lotte Minnebo controlled the swim.

The Czech athlete produced the second-fastest run of the day over the five-kilometre course to build a decisive 32-second advantage by the finish.

Only María López Faraudo, who finished fifth, managed a quicker split. Guerrero secured silver, while Jímenez-Orta Guerrero held off Carlotta Bülck to claim bronze and give Spain two places on the podium.

There was further Spanish success in the elite men's race, with Xavi Cabanilles Añó taking gold ahead of Genis Grau.

The Spaniard made up ground with the third-fastest bike split of the day, working his way into the main group before heading into T2 with the leading athletes. He found himself among five competitors battling for victory over the final five kilometres, with two French athletes, Achille Besson and Quentin Criado, alongside Italy's Davide Menichelli, all pushing hard for the podium.

Cabanilles found another gear in the closing stages, producing a decisive sprint to cross the finish line four seconds ahead of Grau. The battle for second and third was equally close, with Grau edging Besson in a photo finish to secure silver.

For Spain, the results provided a strong finish to the Europe Triathlon Cup season, with the home nation claiming three of the six available medals in Ibiza.
