By David Peddie | 26 Sep, 2011

Twenty coaches representing nine National Federations begin a coaching course in Croatia this week as part of the 2011 ETU Sport Development project.

The ITU accredited Level 2 Competitive Coaching course will be hosted by Zeljko Bujak, ITU Sport Development Co-ordinator for Europe, in the town of Pula, just 100m from the Lungomare on the Adriatic coast.

Zeljko said: “The course is aimed at coaches who work with Junior and U23 athletes. The aims of the course are to integrate sport science with triathlon specific preparation, planning and evaluation.”

“Attending the course will be those coaches who are involved with the education and coaching of National Federation athletes, with an emphasis on coaches from Federations that do not have any existing coach education programmes.”

Coaches from Finland, Ireland, Latvia, Slovenia, Serbia, Macedonia, Romania, Norway and Croatia will attend the 5 day course which begins on 29 September.

The course will have a mixture of theory and practical sessions and lectures are facilitated by a wealth of triathlon and endurance expertise; Luc Morin (Canada), Bobby McGee (USA), Sergio Santos and Antonio Miguel Jourdan (POR).
