ETU launch new National Federation Junior ranking competition

By David Peddie | 03 Mar, 2014

The European Triathlon Union are delighted to announce the launch of a new National Federation Junior Ranking.

With a prize fund of 10,000€, the new system is designed to increase participation in the ETU Junior Cups for 2014 and beyond.

At the end of the season, the ranking points of the highest two male athletes and highest two female athletes per National Federation will be added together. These accumulated points will form the basis of the new National Federation ranking, with the prize money being awarded to the Federation.

The 10,000€ prize money will be divided between the top five Federations as follows; 3,000€ (1st), 2,500€ (2nd), 2,000€ (3rd), 1,500€ (4th) and 1,000€ (5th).

Denis Jaeger,  ETU Vice-President, said: “The  ETU Executive Board has created this new ranking by National Federation to increase the participation of all countries in Junior European Cups.

“With this mixed ranking we hope that the countries which hesitated to send Junior athletes to compete will be encouraged to do so.

“This is a great opportunity for each National Federation to compete and learn from other Federations.”

The opening ETU Junior European Cup is in Quarteira on 13th April 2014, one of ten Junior Cups scheduled for the season.
